About

The vision of Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) for the next ten years is to be renowned for its inclusive approach to teaching and learning that meets the needs of students, industry and community. The CIT Strategic Plan: Skilling for the Future, Equipping You for Life details CIT values of student-centric, belonging, excellence, connection, integrity and well-being. CIT’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), endorsed by Reconciliation Australia and launched in 2024 and Gender Equity Action Plan (GEAP) reinforce CIT’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

CIT launched its Inclusion, Equity, Diversity, and Accessibility (IDEA) Framework 2024. It covers students, workforce, environment, culture, and partnerships, and intentionally frames CIT as an influencer and role model through its workforce, partnerships, and students.

The IDEA Framework underpins CIT action plans and activities and ensures diversity and inclusion are a key contributor to CIT’s performance and achievement of its strategic objectives of: delivering training that meets the needs of today tomorrow and beyond; ensuring that teaching and learning is leading edge and enhances student outcomes; ensuring staff are equipped to achieve the CIT’s strategy; and ensuring that CIT has the foundations support the delivery of the strategy and enable future growth.
