George Martin, Chief Technology Officer at Starling Energy Group (also known as Plico), has contributed significantly to the energy sector over the past decade. He has successful led large, multi-million-dollar ARENA and State Government funded programs. Most recently, George has been making strides in the Consumer Energy Resources arena at Plico, influencing regulatory outcomes and policy reform. This also includes successfully launching WA’s first live residential Virtual Power Plant.

George demonstrates leadership within the industry by delivering results and sharing knowledge with stakeholders. George has successfully spearheaded Plico’s engagement with industry, namely AEMO, Energy Retailers, DNSPs as well as Energy Policy WA and WA’s Economic Regulation Authority.

George has been widely recognised as an industry thought leader and expert in the field, featuring in ABC articles and on ABC Radio National. This recognition underscores his commitment to sharing knowledge and insights with the broader community, thereby advancing the sector. In January 2025, his expertise was further recognised through his appointment to the WA Government’s Electricity Review Board’s Panel of Experts for a 4-year term.
